The Chopping block holiday cookie recipe contest

The Chopping Block is looking for your favorite original Holiday cookie recipes. We encourage you to dig out the old recipe cards and give your Grandma some credit!

Rules and Requirements:

1. Eligibility: Contestants must be 18 yrs. or older (minors must have the signed consent of a parent or guardian.) Chopping Block employees, former employees, and their family members are not eligible. The selected winners will be asked to teach their recipe in special cookie classes at The Chopping Block in early December.
2. Timeline: The contest begins July 1st and Ends August 30th. All submissions must be postmarked by August 30th to be eligible. If similar recipes are submitted, the earliest post-marked recipe will take precedence. Winners will be privately notified on October 1, 2004 and publicly announced October 15, 2004.
3. Requirements
• Recipe must be your original creation, a traditional family recipe, or an existing published recipe that features four or more changes the judges deem significant.
• Recipe page must be legibly printed or typed and include name, address, phone number, e-mail address (if available), recipe name, list of ingredients with exact quantities and order that they are used. Specific directions in paragraph form, including pan used, cooking time and temperature, and number of servings should follow the list of ingredients.
• Incomplete and illegible recipes will be disqualified.
• All recipes become the property The Chopping Block and will not be returned. They may be published, with credit, on our website or in future cookbooks.

• Recipes are to be judged on creativity, appearance, and taste. The Chopping Block’s very own chefs will be judging the contest.
4. Prizes: Six Contestants will be selected to teach their recipe in a cooking class at The Chopping Block in early December.
• One grand-prize winner will receive a new 30” Wolf brand Wall Oven valued at $3,359.00 and a chance to teach his or her recipe in a special cookie class at The Chopping Block.
• One Second Place winner will receive a Mauviel 7-piece Copper Cookware Set valued at $1,300.00 and a chance to teach his or her recipe in a special cookie class at The Chopping Block.
• One Third Place winner will receive an Emile Henry 16-piece Bake ware Set valued at $500.00 and a chance to teach his or her recipe in a special cookie class at The Chopping Block.
• Three Honorable mentions will win gift certificates for two classes at The Chopping Block, valued at $100.00, and a chance to teach his or her recipe in a special cookie class at The Chopping Block.
• All winning recipes will be acknowledged on The Chopping Block’s website. Prizes are non-transferable.
