Demonstration Classes are an intimate, interactive look at cooking. Each class features an entertaining and informative lesson by our professional chef-instructor plus generous tastings of every dish prepared in class.

In Hands-On Classes, you participate in each step of the cooking so you can recreate the experience at home. Our professional chef-instructor will discuss the ins and outs of each recipe, give you valuable tips, and coach you as you work in small groups to prepare the dishes. You’ll sit down at the end of class to feast upon the fruits of your labor.

Tuition

The following are class tuitions, unless stated otherwise on our class calendar:

  • Demonstration Classes: $40
  • Hands-On Classes: $75
  • Wine Classes: $60

Note: "Focus On" classes, Boot Camp, and Mini Boot Camp have different price structures. Please check the individual class or program.

Student Discount

On the day of class you receive a 10% discount on all regularly priced merchandise in our gourmet retail store. Your instructor will also offer a 15% discount on any retail items that are featured in class.

Credit Card Reservations for classes required.

All classes may be subject to cancellation or rescheduling by the Chopping Block.

Building Block Classes

Each menu for the Building Block Classes comprises a full meal, easy to recreate at home for your family or for an intimate dinner party.  Class handouts include outlines detailing the order of preparation, as well as lists of steps to be completed in advance.  Building Block classes also focus on the skills needed to complete the menu.  Handouts include a detailed explanation of important kitchen techniques. 

Students can either take individual classes to sharpen certain skills, or they can complete all the classes for total culinary proficiency. These classes are created for both novices who need a "crash course" to learn all the basics, as well as for avid home cooks seeking to hone and enhance their knowledge. Click here for more info.

Corkage Fee

The Chopping Block provides you with a handpicked list of food-friendly wines to enjoy during your class, as well as a small selection of craft beers. If, however, you have a special bottle that you would like to bring, please keep in mind that a corkage fee of $10 per bottle of wine and $5 per six-pack of beer will be applied toyour class fee.

 

 

Cancellation Policy

In order to keep our classes comfortable and to preserve our chef to student ratio we must impose a cancellation policy. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding.

A one-week notice is required for cancellation of any class. If you do not cancel by telephone at least 1 week in advance of your scheduled class, we will charge your credit card in full for the class. Please feel free to send a friend in your place.
